Illustrations are a crucial aspect of any design and access statement. They must be easy to interpret and relate clearly to the text. They can consist of a mixture of photographs, sketches, figure ground diagrams, photomontages, concept drawings, computer based images and artist impressions. The aim is to explain the design approach, not to duplicate submitted copies of the drawing accompanying the planning application. The scale and format of the images will often be dependent upon the scale and significance of the site and development proposal.
